There will be times in your life when people will praise you for your good deeds. There will also be times when people will persecute you for doing good. I used to get so down when I would do good for others, only to get mistreated and talked about. What I have come to realize is that our popularity decreases as we grow closer to the Lord. For example, when I really got serious about my commitment to God, I lost some friendships and some of my family members did not understand nor respect the change that was occurring in my life. There were times I felt like giving up and I began to question if I should continue on the path or go back.
Listen, being in the Lord's will is not always going to be the 'popular' thing to do. We are living in a world where good is called bad and bad is called good. The Bible tells us that if we suffer for doing right, it pleases God. So I encourage you to stay focused and keep doing right. When you feel alone and like an outcast, know that God is with you and he understands. Jesus Christ was the only perfect man to walk the earth and look at what they did to him. But also look at what their actions brought about, our salvation! So take joy in being a part of the unpopular crowd. There is a greater blessing on the other side of it.
